You Were Holding Me In California While My Grandfather Was Dying In Maryland (Live!)

You Were Holding Me In California While My Grandfather Was Dying in California (Live!) features the artist interacting with a projected image of a lounging kangaroo. With this internet image projected over her body, artist and animal appear at times to be spooning, posing for a photo, or making out. The relationship between projected animal form and physical human body evokes the sensation of something being here and not here at the same time – much like an encounter with a body after a person is dead (when the body is present and the location of the self uncertain) or a lover, where the connection between oneself and another is always un-confirmable.
